Eagles' Rally Falls Short Against NCAA II Ouachita Baptist

The Eagles dropped a 9-7 decision to NCAA II Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia Wednesday. The Eagles made an impressive comeback after trailing 9-0, but simply ran out of innings. 8th D. CAA Football Rewind - Nov. 24

Cole Coleman led the Phoenix defense with 11 tackles.Stony Brook (7-5) jumped out to a 14-0 halftime lead, but three second-half turnovers proved costly in a 28-14 loss at Southeast Missouri in the first round of the FCS playoffs. Donald Liotine ran in from two yards out to give SBU a 7-0 advantage with 6:37 left in the period and Joe Carbone connected on a 36-yard scoring strike to Julius Wingate with 1:54 to go before intermission. Wingate had a huge game with eight catches for 143 yards.Towson (7-5) took a 10-0 advantage but saw Northeast Conference champ Duquesne respond with 31 unanswered points in a 31-10 win at rainy Unitas Stadium in the first round of the FCS playoffs. The Tigers took a 7-0 lead less than five minutes into the contest on a 34-yard TD pass from Tom Flacco to Jabari Allen and added a 26-yard field goal from Aidan O'Neill midway through the second quarter.

Seven CAA Football Players Named Academic All-District

Chosen to the District 1 team were New Hampshire senior defensive end Kyle Reisert and UNH junior linebacker Cameron Brusko. All seven players advance to the national ballot and the Academic All-America teams will be announced in early December. Reisert has a 3.97 cumulative GPA as a mechanical engineering major and was named to both the Academic All-District and All-America teams in 2017. Udinski is currently working on his Masters Degree in teaching with a concentration in secondary education, having a 4.00 GPA.

CAA Football Weekly Awards - Nov. 12

The junior linebacker was part of a stellar effort from the Tigers defense, which held the Phoenix to just 238 total yards and a season-low 10 points. The junior safetys first pickoff came in the end zone and the second helped set up the Tribes first touchdown. Laster was the first W&M player to post multiple interceptions in a game since 2016.ONeill booted a pair of 45-yard field goals and was 5-for-5 on extra points in Towsons 41-10 win at Elon. The freshman broke loose for a 93-yard scoring run late in the third quarter that was the second-longest in UNH history and gave the Wildcats a 17-3 lead.

Maine beats Elon 27-26 for outright win of CAA title

Jamehl Wiley's fumble recovery set up Belcher's score before Edwards returned a kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown and a 14-7 second-quarter lead. Kenny Doak added a 44-yard field goal, then Edwards returned another kickoff 93 yards for a score and a 24-13 Black Bears lead. Connor Christiansen grabbed two interceptions and Greg Liggs Jr. snagged another which led to Elon scores. Skyler Davis kicked a career-high four field goals, including two in the fourth quarter to make it a one-point game.

Southern Miss returns 87 percent of its points from a year ago, including four starters ( Cortez Edwards , Dominic Magee , Tyree Griffin and Kevin Holland ). Griffin, after sitting out the 2016-17 season following his transfer from Oklahoma State, was the team's second-leading scorer (15.0 ppg) and recorded 201 assists, second-most in program history (and most since Dallas Dale in 1991-92).

CAA Football Rewind - Oct. 13

Rhode Island (4-2, 2-1 CAA) got back-to-back touchdown runs from Zoe Bryant early in the third quarter to grab a 30-14 lead before the Black Bears stormed back behind the play of quarterback Chris Ferguson. Knight was 27-of-48 for 221 yards and a TD through the air with O'Connor making a career-high 14 receptions for 156 yards.Pat Kehoe threw three touchdown passes and Delaware turned in a strong defensive performance to knock off Elon, 28-16. However, the Blue Hens rallied back as Kehoe threw TD passes of 7 and 6 yards to tight end Charles Scarff to move on top 14-10 early in the third quarter. In a game that went back-and-forth all night, UAlbany (2-4, 0-3 CAA) tied the contest at 24-24 on Ethan Stark's 29-yard field goal, but the Spiders drove 57 yards on 11 plays to set up the game-winner.

JaJuan Lawson returned at quarterback for the Rams and was 25-of-35 passing for 349 yards and 3 TD's.Cornerback Nowoola Awopetu became the first player in Villanova history to have two pick sixes in a game as the Wildcats (4-5, 1-5) earned a 45-21 win at Richmond. The Tigers drove to the Maine 2-yard line with less than two minutes to go, but Sterling Sheffield came up a key stop on a fourth-down run to seal the Black Bears' victory. Towson (6-3, 4-2 CAA) trailed 28-10 midway through the third quarter, but Shane Simpson caught a 26-yard TD pass from Tom Flacco and later scored on a 5-yard run that tied the contest with 10:14 to go.

CAA Football Rewind - Oct. 20

Elon (5-2, 3-1 CAA) got big offensive performances from quarterback Jalen Greene and running back Jaylan Thomas to get past Richmond, 38-28. Offensivey Pat Kehoe threw touchdown passes to Charles Scarff and Vinny Papale and the Hens also got scoring runs from Kani Kane and Joe Walker. Vincent Testaverde passed for 210 yards and two touchdowns, both of which went to Juwan Green, who made four receptions for 135 yards.William & Mary (3-4, 2-2 CAA) got big plays on both sides of the ball to defeat Maine, 27-20, handing the nationally ranked Black Bears their first league loss. Ramon Jefferson ran for 80 yards and a TD.In a battle of Top 25 squads, Stony Brook (6-2, 4-1 CAA) jumped out to a 24-0 second-quarter lead and never looked back in a 52-14 victory over Rhode Island.

Earning honors are Elon freshman running back Jaylan Thomas, Elon senior linebacker Warren Messer, Villanova junior kicker Drew Kresge, Villanova freshman defensive back Christian Benford and Maine freshman running back Ramon Jefferson.Thomas rushed for a career-high 222 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries to lead Elon past Rhode Island, 24-21. Thomas broke loose for an 86-yard TD run that snapped a 7-7 tie in the second quarter and averaged 12.3 yards per carry in a game in which the Phoenix only passed eight times.Messer recorded a team-high 14 tackles, 2.5 TFL, 2.0 sacks and returned an interception 86 yards for a touchdown in Elons 24-21 win over Rhode Island. Messers 14 stops were one shy of his career high and his two sacks were part of a season-high seven by the Elon defense.Kresge booted a career-high three field goals and contributed 13 points in Villanovas 45-21 victory at Richmond. The three FGs in a game were the most by a Wildcats kicker since 2013.Benford intercepted three passes and added three tackles in Villanovas 45-21 triumph at Richmond.
