Carlisle kicker Caleb Richwine picks rising Mid-American Conference outfit

The decision ending an active recruiting process that included an offer from Patriot League rep Bucknell. Hell now compete for the starting job against former Cedar Crest kicker Chad Ryland, who connected on 12 of his 20 field goal attempts last season, including a 24-yarder as time expired to lift the Eagles over Purdue in September. Supplementing his time as a top-ranked kicker at Kohls Football Kicking Camp, Richwine connected on seven field goals, including a 49-yarder, during his senior campaign. Richwine also bumped his portfolio with solid camp workouts at Toledo, Rutgers and Ohio University, among others, over the last several years.

Another MAC team, another test to pass for Blazers

If you're a Northern Illinois player who goes to school on a campus located closer to the Wisconsin state line than Chicago, you might not be familiar with your three-letter alphabet opponent. Going in as the favorite and one of college football's darlings are the shiny story lines this time, but that's not going to impress the Huskies, who were four-point dogs to Buffalo in their league title game. If the Blazers are going to win, they'll need a 70-yard-plus rushing performance from Brown and close to a flawless game from quarterback Tyler Johnston, whose ability to keep drives moving with his legs should wear on Northern Illinois. UAB will have a tough time scoring but so are the Huskies against C-USA's top defense unless quarterback Marcus Childers' MAC title game performance -- a 300-yard, four-touchdown day -- was more about who he is than who he wasn't during the regular season.

Mid-State Conference 38 postseason honors for 2018

Ends and linebackers would likely agree unanimously that Dabney's mix of speed and raw power made his running ability a weapon they often could not control. Dabney formulated some monstrous numbers this season to help Somerville to an 11-1 finish and a second straight appearance in the Central Jersey, Group 3 final. The Comets, however, will return quarterback Gavin Melendez, running backs James Louis and Jahon Moore, wide receiver Nahree Biggins, and several other starters; they won't be relinquishing that title without a battle. The stifling defense was anchored by Ugwu (118 tackles), Najee Peele (143), Mateus Ramos, Akugbe Omokaro, Aaron Miller, Biggins, Willis, Moore and Boris-Paul.
