Wichita State's men finished 15th, and the women placed 25th, at the 2017 NCAA Midwest Cross Country Championship Friday morning at the Iowa State Cross Country Course in Ames, Iowa.Sophomoreled the Shocker men in the 10K race finishing 50th overall with a time of 30:09.7, followed by seniorsin 89th place with a time of 30:40.7 andin 90th place with a time of 30:40.8.ran the course in 30:56.1 to finish 103rd androunded out the top five scorers in 118th place with a time of 31:08.5. "This is the first time [Penrod] has run a 10K in his life," head cross country coachsaid "I'm proud of the fact he has worked to become more of a cross country runner instead of just a track athlete. Karissa Schweizer of Missouri won the women's individual championship in a time of 19:50.9. Sharon Lokedi placed second, followed by Cailie Logue of Iowa State in third and Aubrey Roberts of Northwestern in fourth.Iowa State won the men's and women's team championships, and Oklahoma State placed second in the men's and women's team championships to earn automatic bids to the NCAA Championships, as well as the top four finishers from the men and women received automatic bids.
