Former Alabama standout Deshea Townsend has joined the Chicago Bears as the NFL teams defensive-backs coach. Among the players wholl be coached by Townsend in 2019 is safety Eddie Jackson, another former Alabama standout who earned All-Pro recognition in 2018. Townsend was a four-year starter at cornerback at Alabama from 1994 through 1997 before going to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the fourth round of the 1998 NFL Draft. Townsend played in 191 NFL games, which ranks sixth among Crimson Tide alumni, behind Chris Mohr, Howard Cross, Cornelius Bennett, Ozzie Newsome and Bart Starr.
