The ICC said in a statement Wednesday that Irfan Ansari approached Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed during the 2017 series against Sri Lanka in the United Arab Emirates with a view to engaging him in corrupt conduct by soliciting information from him. The charges included directly soliciting, inducing, enticing or encouraging a player to disclose inside information, and failing to cooperate with the ICCs anti-corruption unit. Ansari was charged after refusing to hand over his mobile phone for examination by investigators. ICC anti-corruption unit general manager Alex Marshall said Sarfaraz showed leadership and professionalism in reporting the approach.
Lahore and Karachi have been focal points of the push for more cricket on home soil, hosting Twenty20 games against a World XI, Sri Lanka and the West Indies. Mani said the league was watched by more than 100 million people last year and its sponsorship and broadcast rights deals continued to grow rapidly despite Pakistans economic situation. Mani couldnt convince Cricket Australia to play at least two one-day internationals in Pakistan next month, with a five-match series instead going ahead in the UAE, but he said the Australians were committed to sending their security experts to the PSL to assess the situation. But Bhatti, who works for leading Urdu language newspaper Daily Jang and at Geo TV, said the status quo wouldnt change until the major cricket countries such as India, England, South Africa and Australia starting touring Pakistan.
Arrernte are the First Nations People of Alice Springs, where the game was originally to be played before it was moved south due to an unfit outfield at Traegar Park. Strikers opener Alex Carey will also use the bat of Melbourne Renegades allrounder and Aboriginal XI skipper Dan Christian, which features the artwork of Indigenous artist Emma MacNeil. "Despite the game being moved from Alice Springs, I was thrilled that Alex Carey was genuinely excited to use my bat in Adelaide to help support the cause in this themed match," Christian said. The documentary follows the Australian Mens and Womens Indigenous teams in the UK and remembers the group of Aboriginal players and their historic tour of England in 1868, 150 years earlier.
Having slid along the turf to avoid McDermotts throw, Bailey quickly got to his feet before running back to his position. There is a provision in the games laws to penalise a fielding team five runs if umpires determine that a fielder has wilfully distracted the batters. Law 41.5 states, in part, that it is unfair for any fielder wilfully to attempt, by word or action, to distract, deceive or obstruct either batsman after the striker has received the ball. In this case, the match umpires were satisfied that Bailey had not wilfully distracted the batters and did not have a clear intent to deceive them, and their interpretation was supported by CAs officiating department on Friday.
I was keen to speak with him on the teams recent performances about his own future plans as we all know he has undergone some tough times as a professional cricketer in the past few weeks. There was speculation in the local media about keeping Sarfraz as the captain after he was banned for four matches by the ICC for racially taunting South Africa allrounder Andile Phehlukwayo in an ODI two weeks ago in Durban. Mani added: Sarfraz has been an integral part of the Pakistan cricket teams World Cup preparations and has proved to be a good strategist, leader and performer. Since being made captain two years ago, Sarfraz has led Pakistan to 21 victories in 35 ODIs, including winning the Champions Trophy in 2017 in England.
ISLAMABAD (AP) The West Indies womens team has arrived in Karachi to play three Twenty20 matches as Pakistan once again bids to showcase its ability to host international cricket. There was a heavy security presence between the airport and the team hotel, and traffic on one of Karachis busiest roads was halted while the visiting squad travelled through on bullet-proof buses. A terrorist attack in March 2009 on the Sri Lanka test cricket teams bus in Lahore killed six policeman and two civilians and injured six members of the touring group. West Indies captain Stafanie Taylor is skipping the T20 matches this week in Karachi because of security concerns but will rejoin the squad for a series of three one-day internationals against Pakistan in Dubai next month.
Richie McCaw is the former All Blacks captain who led New Zealand to consecutive Rugby World Cup titles in 2011 and 2015 - and it appears he is also a dab hand on the cricket pitch too. McCaw was one of a host of Kiwi sport stars who went head-to-head in the inaugural T20 Black Clash at Christchurch's Hagley Oval on Friday. Brendon McCullum top scored for Team Rugby with 48 runs while Jordie Barrett made an unbeaten 42. Full-back Barrett also took two wickets for Team Rugby and hit a four from the fourth ball of the final over to wrap up his side's upset victory.
"I feel 100% happy with my decision to move on from playing international cricket," Hazell explained. Before making her debut, Durham-born Hazell was also in the England squad which won the inaugural Women's World Twenty20 on home soil in the summer of 2009. England coach Mark Robinson said: "Dani can justifiably be really proud of her international career. Hazell, who twice stood in as England captain because of injuries and was at one time the highest-ranked female T20 bowler in the world, has also featured for Yorkshire Diamonds and Lancashire Thunder in the Super League, and for Melbourne Stars and Adelaide Strikers in Australia's Women's Big Bash League.
Botha said getting physically prepared for top-level cricket after a long off-season had become increasingly difficult, and he wanted to step aside in time for the Hurricanes to fill his spot before the finals. Having moved to Australia in 2012 and become a citizen in 2016, Botha played for the Strikers, Sixers and Hurricanes in a successful KFC BBL career and also captained the Redbacks in first-class and one-day cricket. Botha made his Test debut against Australia in 2006, but the early stages of his career were marred by reports of an illegal bowling action, which led to him being suspended. Bothas sudden retirement leaves the Hurricanes with two vacancies on their list after English import Tymal Mills was ruled out on the eve of the tournament.
