Huskers Finish In Second At GARC Championships

Samantha Peterson, Hannah Virga and Nina Radulovic all brought in 586 to assemble a consistent Husker effort. The first-place finish brought the Mountaineers their tenth conference title in a row. Akron (4,655) took fourth, Navy (4,652) took fifth and Ole Miss (4,648) finished in sixth. Hannah Virga is the exception, having been selected to attend the NCAA Championships in Morgantown, W. Va. Virga will compete as an individual in the air rifle discipline on Mar.

Huskers Defeat Minnesota and UIC

Anton Stephenson claimed event titles on vault (14.85), pommel horse (13.35), while freshman Khalil Jackson and sophomore Griffin Kehler tied for the high bar title (14.00). Hymanson led the way for the Huskers, posting three career high scores. Jake Bonnay rounded out NUs final team score of 68.950 with a 13.65. Jonathan Scripnick and Josh Martin rounded out the final team score of 71.80, both posting a 14.10.

Redbird Gymnasts Set to Take On Ball State and SEMO Our team will have to be focused and put up strong performances in each of the four events to come out with a win over Ball State. Ball State was defeated by NIU this past weekend 195.700-194.700 Ball State won vault (49.075) and uneven bars (49.125) The Cardinals held four of the top finishes on vault Jordyn Penny placed first on beam with a score of 9.800. SEMO was defeated by MIC foe UIC this past Sunday 195.100-185.550 Anna Kaziska placed second on both beam (9.800) and floor 99.850) and finished third in the all-around with a 38.250 Mackenzie Slee placed fourth in the all-around (37.300), followed by Alana Fischer in fifth (37.275), and Michael Sanders in sixth (35.450).

Flames Host NIU in Season's Final Home Meet

Miki Northern, the team's leader in the all-around, and fellow seniors Riley Mahoney , Jenna Squillo , Allison Broad , and Sabrina Tomassini , will be competing in their final home meet. UIC won its sixth straight meet with a convincing victory over MIC rival Southeast Missouri. UIC will square off against Northern Illinois for the second of three times this season as the Flames host the Huskies in the home finale Sunday. It was part of a streak of three straight meets with a score of 195 or higher, a mark the Flames have achieved four times overall this year.

The game was intense and included a second-half technical foul on Illinois coach Brad Underwood , who kicked a chair following a call he disagreed with. Lamar Stevens scored 25 points for Penn State (11-16, 4-12 Big Ten), and Mike Watkins got his 26th career double-double for the Nittany Lions. The players, coaches and staff from the fan-favorite squad were introduced at halftime and signed autographs for fans after the game.

Gymnastics Takes First Place At Temple's Ken Anderson Invitational With Season-High Score Of 195.350

As a team, UB scored 49.050 in the floor exercise, 48.800 on the bars, 48.775 on the beam and 48.725 on the vault. Three Purple Knights tied for first on the bars with a scores of 9.825 in sophomore Kathryn Doran (Oakville, Ontario, Canada), graduate student Kelli Tereshko (Madison, Indiana) and senior Kelly Aycock (Locust Grove, Ga.). On the vault, sophomore Gabrielle Kistner (Raleigh, N.C.) and Roland tied for second posting scores of 9.825. Up next, the UB women's gymnastics team will travel to Towson University next Friday evening for a tri-meet with the Tigers and Southern Connecticut State.
