Tens of thousands of dollars were raised for the family of Worcester Firefighter Christopher Roy on Sunday at the Boston Bruins game. Two years since he stood next to Michael Clarke and boldly told Sydney's media that "my dream is to play Big Bash", Sandeep Lamichhane is just days away from achieving his goal. Still just 18 years old, Lamichhane will create history on Friday when he makes his KFC BBL debut for Melbourne Stars in Canberra and becomes the first player from the rapidly-growing cricketing nation of Nepal to play in the Big Bash. Lamichhane has continued to forge a path forward for Nepalese cricket in 2018, competing in top-flight domestic leagues in India, Canada, the Caribbean and the UAE, and playing with and against some of the best players in the world. There are his strong links with Clarke, who was so impressed by the then 15-year-old Lamichhane during a tournament in Hong Kong in 2016 that he encouraged him to come and play alongside side him at Western Suburbs in Sydney Premier (club) Cricket.
Down one path is a modified version of what's he's done for most of the past decade: the life of a professional cricketer, this time focused solely on the 20-over game having conceded his days as a full-time state player in Australia are probably behind him. The other option would see cricket firmly take a back seat, the higher priorities of fatherhood to six-month-old Bonnie and a career as a primary school teacher helping to ease him out of the bubble of professional sport. Dumped by Tasmania and the Hobart Hurricanes this year and without a full state contract for the first time since 2010, the leg-spinner will play for Melbourne Renegades in this summer's KFC BBL, the first of a two-year deal at what is his third Big Bash franchise having debuted with the Strikers in 2012. A missed stumping chance against India at the SCG almost three years ago would have improved his already impressive figures of 2-28 in a high-scoring game that included the wickets of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
With more cricket filling the Australian summer than ever before, the option is there to play casually, or take every opportunity possible to find the best match up and win one of the daily prizes up for grabs. Is it prioritising big scores from opening batsmen or targeting allrounders who can chip in with runs and wickets? Dream 11 gives players 100 credit points to build their perfect Big Bash Fantasy team. The Big Bash League has partnered with Skyscanner to develop an impressive wealth of prizes available throughout the W/BBL seasons.

SELVA DI VAL GARDENA, Italy Lindsey Vonn is hoping to return from injury next month and resume her pursuit of the all-time World Cup wins record, according to the U.S. I wont be racing as my team and I needed a rest and reboot after the busy last six weeks, Shiffrin wrote on social media Sunday. The Gardena races were originally scheduled for Val dIsere, France, this weekend but were moved due to a lack of snow in the French resort. While the U.S. has plenty of starting spots available in Gardena, Kristofic said that the teams younger athletes are not ready to race World Cup downhill, especially on a mens track.
