Laura Cox named Michigan Republican Party chair

LANSING, MI -- Former state Rep. Laura Cox will lead the Michigan Republican Party as it seeks to re-elect President Donald Trump in 2020. She said she plans to talk about the presidents accomplishments as part of the MRPs messaging and also expand how the party reaches out to voters through digital media. Cox served in the legislature, where she chaired the powerful House Appropriations Committee that negotiates and determines the states budget each year. Rep. Shane Hernandez, R-Port Huron, took over that role and nominated Cox for Michigan Republican Party chairwoman at the convention.

Juan Foyth Targeted by Tottenham Fans on Twitter After Messy Performance in Burnley Defeat

They had the chance to close the gap on the Premier League's top two teams to two points with a win, with Liverpool playing Manchester United on Sunday and Manchester City absent from league duties due to their appearance in the Carabao Cup final. Goals from Chris Wood and Ashley Barnes cancelled out Harry Kane's equaliser and saw Burnley through to a 2-1 win at Turf Moor, ensuring Tottenham stay stuck on 60 points. At times this season Juan Foyth has shown signs of maturity and real quality when called upon by Mauricio Pochettino, but Saturday wasn't one of those days. He was put on the right side of a back three and struggled to cope with Burnley's attacking threat, losing Wood from a corner which led to the hosts' opening goal.

Nick Cushing Hails Karen Bardsley After Man City Goalkeeper's Penalty Heroics in Cup Final Win

Manchester City Women boss Nick Cushing hailed goalkeeper Karen Bardsley after her penalty shoot-out heroics helped the side clinch their third Continental Cup in five years. Following a 0-0 draw after 120 minutes against Arsenal, the England international saved both Leah Williamson and Danielle van de Donk's spot-kicks to hand City the cup. Having seen Gunners goalkeeper Sari van Veenendaal keep out Lauren Hemp's penalty, Cushing admitted his City side were indebted to Bardsley's ability to step up in the big moments and help mount a comeback. Arsenal manager Joe Montemurro meanwhile, was left to rue star striker Vivianne Miedema's lack of fitness, with the Women's Super League's top-scorer only able to come off the bench in the 69th minute.

Gary Neville Claims Jurgen Klopp's Touchline Antics Could Cost Liverpool in Title Race

Gary Neville has revealed that he thinks Jurgen Klopp could cost Liverpool the Premier League title if his antics on the touchline continue. The Reds manager has been highly active on the touchline throughout the season, whether that's complaining to officials or celebrating his team's goals. In fact, he was recently fined 45,000 for his post-match comments after Liverpool's 1-1 draw with West Ham, adding further to the list of criticism Klopp has come under for his behaviour. Because they havent won the league for so long and its a club that has been built on championship successes, there is a level of desperation to get one over the line.

Messi hits 50th hat trick to give Barca 4-2 win at Sevilla

Messi scored his 50th hat trick for club and country on Saturday in a 4-2 victory at Sevilla, helping Barcelona to take a big step toward retaining the Spanish league title. The fierce rivals meet in the second leg of their Copa del Rey semifinal on Wednesday after a 1-1 draw at Camp Nou, before clashing again in the league next weekend. But Messi responded both times with strikes that produced the same result: goalkeeper Tomas Vaclik helplessly pawing thin air as the ball sailed over his head. Messi cancelled out Navas' 22nd-minute opener four minutes later with an exquisite volley, as the Argentine blasted Ivan Rakitic's cross into the top corner of the net.

The Stat That Proves Crystal Palace's Michy Batshuayi Is Among the Best Strikers in the World

A 30-yard strike from James McArthur was deflected off the outstretched leg of the forward, completely wrong footing Kasper Schmeichel in the Leicester goal. However, his constant jet-setting doesn't appear to have impacted his goalscoring ability and with another strike added to his collection against Leicester, the frontman could arguably be viewed as one of the top strikers in the world, with the help of Opta. According to the analytics company, since the start of the 2014/15 season, no player has scored for more different clubs than Batshuayi in the big five European leagues (five - Marseille, Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund, Valencia and Crystal Palace). The Eagles' strikers have notoriously lacked the killer instinct in front of goal, with 32m signing Christian Benteke being the prime example, failing to net since April.

Harry Kane Reveals Arsenal Release as a Youngster Fuelled His Ambition to 'Be the Best'

The striker first put pen to paper with the Gunners in 2001 but was let go after the club deemed Kane too unfit to play for them. He's come a very long way since his early days at Arsenal , and is now helping Tottenham's bid to try and keep pace with Manchester City and Liverpool in the Premier League title race. Speaking with the Times as quoted by the Express, Kane revealed that being released by Arsenal at such a young age has helped him become the player he is today. Having just returned after spending a number of weeks on the side lines due to injury, Spurs will be delighted to have their star man back ahead of what promises to be an enthralling title race.

‘Massive opportunity lost’ for Tottenham in Burnley shock defeat

The Tottenham coach angrily squared up to referee Mike Dean after the 2-1 loss at Burnley on Saturday, venting his frustration over a decision that led to the hosts opening goal. It was a rare public display of anger from Pochettino, who quickly acknowledged his outburst was linked to the realization that defeat may have ended Spurs hopes of catching leading duo Liverpool and Manchester City. Kane, playing his first game since injuring his ankle on Jan. 13, showed his usual scoring touch when he equalized in the 65th, running onto a long throw and poking a low shot inside the far post. Zaha put the visitors 2-1 ahead in the 70th minute, shortly after Jonny Evans had equalized for the hosts, and then added the fourth goal in injury time as Leicesters defence fell apart in the final stages.

Manchester United vs Liverpool: Picking a Combined XI Ahead of Sunday's Premier League Clash

United are the country's form team under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and will look to build on an impressive away win over Chelsea in the FA Cup, while Liverpool have the chance to go three points clear at the top of the table. Alexander-Arnold recently missed three matches through injury and Liverpool only managed to win one of those games - the chaotic 4-3 victory over Crystal Palace - which shows how important the young full back is in both halves for Jurgen Klopp. Undeniably one of the players of the season so far, Salah is the joint top scorer in the league alongside Manchester City's Sergio Aguero and is already adored on Merseyside. The Egyptian led the Reds to the Champions League final last season but his performances this year have made their bid for the England's top flight title a reality.
